Hello there!
Another week just flew by without me getting anywhere. I revised one more textbook this week. The most interesting thing that happened this week was yesterday when I went to my regular park for a regular evening walk when I found 2 tiny kittens. We got them some milk and within a few minutes they started meowing cheerfully. Soon a boy emerged from somewhere and took those kittens home. I was so immersed in reality that I forgot to click pics. But never mind. I am fortunate enough to have such friendly encounters with non-humans often. So next time!
Till then, here are 10 things worth sharing this week.
This is my last week of being a paid subscriber to one of my favourite newsletters - The Art of Noticing by Rob walker. (It was gifted to me by Mr. Walker himself when I sent him some icebreakers over an email a few weeks back. Thanks a lot Mr. Walker for these paid newsletters over the last few weeks.) The recent issue of it led me to this article of The New Yorker - The battle for attention. It was such an eye opener for me - how everyone is battling for our attention and how to get it back and channelise it towards the things that matter. Rob Walker's book - The Art of Noticing is also worth checking out.
I read this heart touching short story in Granta Magazine - The Undertaker's Apprentice by Hana Gammon. It was the regional prize winner for Africa region in the 2023 Commonwealth Short Story Contest. It was simple, beautiful and emotional.
I read this short story on Pinterest. It has no title or anything. But it is such an amazing piece of writing explaining some of the existential philosophies in the best, shortest, easiest and most entertaining way possible.
This week I started reading The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. Have heard that it is one of the best books out there written on creativity. Inspired by its first chapter, I have also started writing morning pages. If you are someone interested in exploring the intersection of creativity and spirituality, these two more books are also worth checking out - Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon and Intuition by Osho.
The song of the week - Love Wins All. Only for its stunning visual storytelling. Hats off to the team behind this.
I found this Art website - Studio Ibbini from the Pinterest Rabbit hole. They make intricate artworks from paper. Like super intricate and delicate. Just have a look and you will know.
If you are a movie buff you must have heard about Dune. Not giving any spoilers on the movie, but I recently came across this small video on YouTube where the creator has dissected the editing of Dune and answered why Dune's editing feels different. It was so interesting to go behind the scenes like the way this man has described everything. I wish I could get such detailed movie dissections of all of my favourite movies.
What if I tell you that stories have shapes? Like, most of the stories of the world can be categorised into several shapes on a graph. If you are into storytelling, grab a notebook and watch this video - Kurt Vonnegut on Shape of Stories.
I recently found a lo-fi Hanuman Chalisa! Have been playing this one loop everyday since then.
Re-found this blog after forgetting it for almost a couple of years - Budgets Are Sexy. Just by the name of it one can assume how unserious its author must be for such a serious topic - finance. Gonna dive back into it for some budgeting tips.
This is it for this week! I am getting closer to my vacation from work with each passing day. But for now, I wish you and me a creative weekend ahead!
Love. Peace. ✌

PS - I was playing chess the other night with my mom. I had to surrender after an hour. My mom won a game of chess against me for the first time ever. So, we are gonna celebrate her achievement this weekend ;D
